Italian Autoblinda AB41 from Warlord

Another Italian AFV in 1/56 scale (or 28mm), this time the Autoblinda AB41 from Warlord.
A very nice metal and resin kit that goes together easily. I painted the wheels separately to reach every part of them and the car.
Paints used:
Body – Vallejo 912 Tan Yellow, a wash of Army Painter Strong Tone ink, a heavy drybrush with 977 Desert Yellow (I made a mistake here, in my mind I used 912, but the result was so good I will stay with this combo), a final light drybrush of 837 Pale Sand.
Wheels – Vallejo Panzer Aces 306 Dark Rubber washed with AP Dark Tone ink.

I haven’t brushed any pigments on this car yet as I have an idea of painting some signs on it, but that will be after Gothcon during the holidays. I don’t have time for that now.
AB41 and CV35
Another camera than my usual, this one is a Canon Ixus 140, a small compact that works surprisingly well. My old one died this weekend. Rest in peace.

Hey! You should really check out Con Man on Indiegogo. I’m just saying Firefly and Serenity

  1. Ah, looking good! We'll have quite a fight at GothCon, that's for sure. And I love how the cloth turned out.

  2. The cloth (for the rest of you) is a tan-coloured double-size beadspread drybushed with lighter sand-tones and splashes of different tans, brown and greys here and there.

  3. Looks great! I wasn't too impressed with Warlords SdKfz 222, good to read this one was ok.

  4. Very nice looking model and you didn't use airbrush, which is even more outstanding

    1. One day I will start using my airbrush. But that day is not today.

  5. Looking good! And the cloth is brilliant...much better than my beige felt!

    1. Gordon, I suggest you give it a try. The cloth in question was created by three trained monkeys (Jocke, Koen and me) in half an hour. I think Jocke can even provide some in progress shots. To be honest, I think it looks great. A lot better than I thought it would while we were working on it.

    2. Actually four trained monkeys, Henrik was there also...
Two monkeys (me and Koen) worked the other two were supervisors. You know how it is :-)
No progress shots as I was busy working... someone had to do that.

  6. That is some very nice painting Joakim, and it will certainly look spectacular with the signs/insignia and weathering! Vehicles are a nice diversion from miniatures, and one I should do more often.

    1. Thank you Sören
Well, your vehicles do look excellent. The vehicles in question being battleships and cruisers. Not in 1/56 scale though :-)

  8. Looking good!

2 monkeys were inspired artists, 2 other monkeys were just holding the cloth and giving comments. Especially one monkey was good at giving comments ;-)

    1. I remember four monkeys dropping comment most of the time. In just this instant I worked and therefore wouldn't comment.
Earlier I have vague recollections of an oasis getting some flak. Couldn't have been me...

    2. So you see, Gordon, if you have a good table and some clamps you can do without two of the trained monkeys.
Just buy a beige bed cloth and some cans of paint and go to town. That's how we did it.
