More painted figures

A bunch more figures finished the last month or so.
Muslim and Ottoman Civilians from Perry Miniatures
Istanbul Constabulary from Pulp Figures
A monster from Reaper, two Hybrid Deep Ones from RAFM and three Servants of the Deep from Cthulhu: Death May Die
A horse from Wizkids, two Wild West hobos from Black Scorpion and two 3D-printed seals from EC3D.
Gnolls from North Star
Now I'm finishing and painting a lot of all that 3D-printed stuff. More on that soon.

American Church from Perry/Renedra

Another building ready for Dead Man’s Hand, this time it’s the American Church from Perry Miniatures/Renedra.
A nice little kit that gives you a really useful building.
Only the store left now of the Perry houses.

North American Cabin from Perry Miniatures/Renedra

I’m trying to finish all Old West minis and buildings to finally get a game of Dead Man’s Hand in.
This is one of three Perry/Renedra buildings that I already had assembled and at last has started to paint. Fist one finished and good enough for a piece of scenery.
It is a bit small compared to my Black Scorpion 32 mm figures, unfortunately. Nothing much to do about that, though, but I guess I have to keep it a bit separate from my 4Ground houses.

Pulp wheels – a car from Perry and a truck from Baker Company

Even though Soerabaja Harbour is ready for action it doesn’t mean that there is no pulp-tings on my painting table. On the contrary it seems, as I got one or two things going.
At the moment there are a few half-finished fantasy figures there and I’m also very keen on continue to paint my Dust stuff – those models are just great fun to paint. Me and my mate Thomas is also very keen on starting to game Dust Warfare again. Also some more figures for the CSSS.
Anyway, here are the newest addition to the Pulp car-pool.
GAZ AAA truck from Baker Company.
This model comes from the Winter War Kickstarter by Baker Company and we finally received our final shipment of stuff a couple of months ago. This is one of the Russian GAZ AAA trucks in that shipment.
It’s a licence-built Ford AA with twin rear-wheels. Built from 1932 into the fifties making it suitable for WWII, Korea, Indochina and more. It also works well as a civilian truck for my Pulp Alley games.
The kit isn't the best out there. The resin parts are good but the metal less so. Rather crudely done unfortunately.
It is painted Vallejo 985 Hull Red drybrushed with 818 Red Leather.
Fiat 508 Militare Coloniale Staff Car from Perry Miniatures.
Another military vehicle press-ganged into pulp-use. A decent resin and tin model, but I’m not super-excited about it.

Painted Vallejo 898 Dark Sea Blue and a drybrush of 964 Field Blue. Shading with Army Painter Dark Tone ink.
Finally a picture of the OM36 truck, now with the missing steering wheel added.

Italian OM36 Light Truck from Perry Miniatures

I bought this little Italian WWII truck from Perry Miniatures for my pulp games. I was drawn to it because of its looks. It is just so ugly it’s cute J
I think it will fit superbly in all these out of the ordinary settings we find in our Pulp Alley games. In the middle of nowhere they have this truck nobody wanted…
It’s missing its steering wheel at the moment, but I’ll mount that shortly. It disappeared and I just found it in a box.

Welcome Tilioch from the Club, with Late Night Painting, where you will find everything between ancients and the far (grim) future. Well worth a look.

Corpo di Spedizione della Santa Sede

Meet my league for Pulp Alley – CSSS or Corpo di Spedizione della Santa Sede (The Holy See Expeditionary Corps).
The adventures take place in the 1930’s and it is very much pulp – think Indiana Jones and you will get the idea. Different gangs, called leagues, are battling each other all over the world, trying to further their ideas – be it finding treasures, de-cloaking Cthulhu cults or further the ambitions of their state or order.
Enter the CSSS – a league sent by the Holy See to further the Only True Teachings and, of course, bring back artefacts to the collections in the Vatican. It is made up of clergy from the Church and men and women provided by the Italian Armed Forces.
As the Holy See has just received the Vatican State from Mussolini they feel that they can’t say no to the kind offer of state-sponsored help and neither can they refuse to further the goals of their benefactors - the Fascist Party and Benito himself.
I’m trying out the league at the moment, and we had a game at the club yesterday when they saw combat for the first time. More on that in a further post.
The League
CSSS relies heavily on its sidekicks (they have a Perk called Company of Heroes giving access to a second sidekick. A Perk affects the whole league and will cost you) and as servants of God they have a wide network of true believers all over the world that will help them (the Perk called Network of Supporters)
The characters:
Soura, Monsignore and Padre
The Leader
Monsignore Cadaverico
Monsignore is on a direct mission from God and he has no problem getting willing allies or followers on his adventures (he has the ability Commander giving him access to 4 points of Allies (costing 2 points) or Followers (costing 1)). He can access the wealth of Church and State (he got the ability Wealthy) and he is able to manipulate his surroundings (ability Savvy). His true strength is manipulation but as a leader he really is good at everything.
Monsignore comes from Shadows over Brimstone. I will change him into another miniature as soon as it gets delivered and painted. Could be some time…
The sidekicks
Don't you dare mess with me, punk!
Suora Innocenza
This is a sister you really don’t want to meet in dark alley. You really don’t want to meet her at all. She is a close-combat machine that will rush anyone (she’s got the abilities Brash (she can get into close combat with anyone without the usual limit of only being able to rush the one closest to you) and surprisingly fast – what you see is a package of muscles (Speedy  - she runs faster/longer than most)
Padre with his most prized possesions - a cross and a tommy gun
Padre Sicario
A very active army priest that likes his cross as much as his guns. He is the sharp-shooter in the gang (Abilities Dead Eye (like Brash but for shooting) and Eagle Eyed (shoots longer))
Padre comes from Warlord and is modified with new head-gear and this and that.
Maligna, Tortura and a guy not used this time.
The Allies
These will differ a bit between adventures, but for the first game I used.
Soldato Tortura and Soldato Maligno
They are booth primarily shooters.
All soldiers from Perry Miniatures and their WWII Italian range. Notes on the paints used here - they are based on real uniforms.
A couple of other soldiers to be used later on.
Note the map of Isola Pericolosa (Perilous Island - the name of the published adventure from Pulp Alley). As all treasure maps it has a great big X in the middle...
A final shot of the boats from last post, this time with occupants.

Italian Breda 37 machine gun and crew from Perry Miniatures

My final minis for our participation game at Gothcon, now I only have to finish some terrain pieces.
These guys from Perry Miniatures will help their German allies against the unprovoked aggression of the British forces.
I haven’t had time or reference books enough to get the colours the way I want them. I usually prefer to go from photos of the real thing and try to match that, but this time I based the paint job on Osprey Men-at-Arms 349 The Italian Army 1940-45 (2) Africa 1940-43. Good enough.
Paints used:
Uniform and headgear: Vallejo 977 Desert Yellow, a wash of Army Painter Strong Tone ink, heavy drybrush with 977, light drybrush of 819 Iraqui Sand.
Ammo pouches – 984 Flat Brown
Belts – 988 Khaki
Shoes and straps – Formula P3 Bootstrap Leather
Puttees – 886 Green Grey
All above washed with AP Strong Tone ink
Collar insignia – 975 Military Green
Badge on helmet – Citadel Mechrite Red/White/975 Military Green/Bronze
Avanti!

Italian CV-35 Tankette by Perry Miniatures

This Christmas I got two presents from my gaming pals Thomas and Laffe. I had my suspicions.. they were probably trying to snare me into another period with some cool figures. Been there, fallen for it, got the T-shirt (or at least a whole lot of stuff for my plastics/resin/tin-mountain)
I was right, the small boxes came from Perry Miniatures and contained a tankette and a machine gun with crew. Italians for the Western Desert and in 1/56 scale. Coincidentally the scale those two gentlemen are building British and German Desert War Chain of Command forces for.
Vrom! Vroom! Poor victim. No-one loves him.
I will not fall for the temptation! or something like that was heard from me.
Well, I will not buy a whole new force but we do need more units for our participation game at Gotcon.
Now this kit is quite nice. I have this soft spot for early war crappy AFV:s and this little tankette hits just the right buttons. Tiny, armed with twin machine guns (in the kit there is also an option for a 20mm gun and it also includes two crew-members), with paper-thin armour.  What’s not to like?
Anyway the metal kit assembles easily, it’s just a few pieces.
Paints used:
I undercoated it all with Vallejo Foundation White and a wash of Army Painter Strong Tone ink.
Then a coat of Vallejo 912 Tan Yellow followed by a wash of Army Painter Strong Tone ink, a heavy drybrush of Tan Yellow followed by a lighter one of 837 Pale Sand.
Tracks were Vallejo Panzer Aces 304 Track Primer drybrushed with 863 Gunmetal Grey.
Rubber is Panzer Aces 306 Dark Rubber
Finally a dusting of AK Pigments AK-041 North Africa Dust.

Ready to take a beating J
