Paint rack from Warbases

My latest hobby-room (or rather hobby-corner) project is done and at last my paints are relatively well organized.
It started with a post in the rather excellent blog Loki’s Great Hall, where he showed how he had organized his Vallejo paint bottles. He had Warbases cut him storage racks in MDF, and they thought it such a good idea that they now sell them (or rather a smaller variant).
Two racks. £7 each.
Glued together
Such a good idea! I quickly bought four racks and the last couple of days I have been assembling them, hanging them on the walls and re-organized the other shelves.
Four racks glued together and with labels on.
The labels are based on the Excel-file from Loki’s page, but I modified it to suit these racks (I can email you a copy of mine if you’re interested). They specify rack position number, paint-name and serial number for each of the Vallejo Model Color bottles. The paints are placed in the same order as the paint racks you can see in shops.
Prepared to hang on the wall
And check that you place the nut between bottles.
In place
Filled with the Vallejo Model Color bottles I have. In the bottom row I have also placed some metal colors from the Vallejo Game Color range.
Assorted other bottles and pots placed so I can identify them easily.
And more paints and pigments
I should have bought one more rack to hold my other drop bottles, but that will be another time.
All in all, I’m very satisfied with how this turned out, as I now have a much clearer view on what paints I have.

The painting table, fit for fight.
A great buy. Highly recommended.

Brimstone – Order from Chaos or how to store all your stuff

I had a conversation on this topic just now and thought I might as well show how I store my Brimstone cards and tokens.
My boxes of Shadow of Brimstone City of Ancients and Swamps of Death contain a lot of stuff. A huge lot of stuff. Cards, tokens, more cards, dice, even more cards and a token or two extra. With all expansions there are going to be even more.
As soon as I opened the boxes I understood that I had a catastrophe in waiting here. It was going to be a real mess if I didn’t have everything organized.
I went to Clas Ohlson, every hobbyists best friend (if you live in Sweden, Norway, Finland, UK and UAE where there are stores), to find suitable storage systems.
For my tokens I use this box
The orange dividers are removable to suit your needs.

My cards go into this box
I’ve tried to sort the cards into suitable stacks to have an easy time setting up the game and finding for example world-specific cards. I've still got a bit of optimization to do.
Tiles go into one of the Brimstone boxes. I store the minis in Alex and for travelling I have some carrying cases for the smaller ones.

Welcome Google+ follower Aaron Martinéz with LA Cueva Miniaturas, where he shows off his miniatures. Very nice stuff that! Lots of talent.

Hey! You should really check out Con Man on Indiegogo. I’m just saying Firefly and Serenity

Storing your minis the IKEA-way

This weekend I went to IKEA on a special wargamer mission. I bought two ALEX drawer units on wheels. They are 67 cm wide, 48 cm deep and 66cm high and have six drawers, three low and three higher, and are supplied with small wheels (that seems to be called castors). It’s 32 kg per package, so you probably need a car.
They were easy to assemble, and I installed the wheels on one, and placed the other on top, and secured it with jointing plates. After that I took a trip to the local arts-shop Panduro Hobby and bought 2mm rubber mats. The mats just needed some trimming, and they fit into the drawers. Having them will avoid having the miniatures sliding about in the drawers when I open or close them.
The result: at last a decent storage place for my minis. As they multiplied they got more and more crammed into whatever drawers, boxes and shelves I had.
Now I can have them all in one place, sorted so I can find them easily, and I will have space for all gaming paraphernalia and some terrain also.
The drawers are perfect as they are just the right height.
Highly recommended, and good for our trade balance too if you buy them J
