Maggotmen from Heresy

Heresy Miniatures is a one-man show where Andy sculpts, makes moulds, casts miniatures and everything else. His specialty is monsters of all sorts and if you’re interested in unusual critters this could be the place to go. He’s got a fair amount of ordinary (sort of) humans, too, if that is your thing.

These maggotmen are good examples of what strange creatures lurk in his web-shop. I got them and a lot of other critters from his Kickstarter, so you can expect to see more from Heresy in the future. Cast in bubble-free resin and… gross. 

I tried to figure out what the eating one was chomping on and finally decided that they are coprophages. I guess you don’t want to invite them to lunch and certainly won’t feel inclined to go to one of their dinner parties.

Crossbow-woman and monk from Otherworld

Two more figures done and the painting table is a little bit less crowded.

These come from Otherworld and have the same high standard as I’ve come to expect from this manufacturer.

The crossbow-woman will work excellently as such in Frostgrave and has already joined the warband.

The monk will stand ready for action in whatever game he might come in handy. He might even work in a Pulp -setting.

Sister Éloïse from Soda Pop Miniatures

You (or at least I) can never have to many priests and nuns, at least not for your league in Pulp Alley if they happen to be a Vatican hit-squad.

This find is Sister Éloïse from the game Hell Dorado from Soda Pop Miniatures. The game seem to be dead, which is unfortunate as there were some gorgeous minis there, but I got this action-packed nun and a priest when Soda Pop had a clearance sale.

I wasn’t overly impressed with the sculpt, or rather the way they cut her up to make the moulds… Anyway, with pinning and green stuff she was presentable.

Why...?

She will be a welcome addition to the CSSS.

Dust - Jagdluther and Sniper Grenadier Team

I was so inspired by the Medium Panzerwalker I finished a couple of weeks ago, so another walker and a couple of Dust-soldiers hit the painting table. They are really enjoyable to paint.

The walker is a Heavy Panzerwalker IV Jagdluther, armed with twin 75 mm guns and a MG 44. Painted in the same way as all my German walkers  and weathered with washes.

The soldiers are a Sniper Grenadier Team consisting of a spotter/leader and a sniper.

As usual these miniatures are really easy to finish as they are undercoated a dark grey, but they do need some trimming as there are faint mould-lines here and there.

That's a nice Forgotten Fountain

There were clear inserts but I used Woodland Scenics Realistic Water instead.

When you least expect it... a water weird! A clear resin piece you can put over the fountain. Difficult to see in the picture, but there is a monstrous head there. I put a gloss varnish on it to let it look more watery.

Scribe from Otherworld

This is a favourite mini from Otherworld, the HH6A Scribe from the Henchmen & Hirelings series, and it has unfortunately been waiting for paint for a long time. So full of character, just a great miniature.

I don’t really know what to use it for, but that might solve itself when he stands ready for action.

On a completely different note - I had a first game of Blood Rage this Wednesday. Before the game Thomas and I joked about how good it is to try out a new game that no-one has played before, because when we get thrashed by my son David there is always easy to find a lot of excuses to why that happened. 
Well, those excuses are said and next time it will be a lot more at stake…

Anyway, it felt like a really good game and was very enjoyable. I look forward to the next game and also painting more of the fantastic figures.

Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, part 3. Space, helicopters, spyplanes and more

When we were finished with the aviation hangar (you can see the civilian planes in part 1 and the military ones in part 2) at the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum, it was time for the space hangar. There we found space vehicles, missiles, spy planes, helicopters and some odds and ends.

A JB-2, something as unusual as an US-made V1. It was meant to be used during the invasion of mainland Japan, but was never used in combat.

A replica Lunokhod 1, the first remotely controlled vehicle to travel on the moon in 1970.

It's a SR-71 Blackbird from 1962. Wow.

A Teledyne-Ryan AQM-34N Firebee, a photo-recon drone used in Vietnam and over China in 1967-71.

 That’s just a part of what you could find in there, but my company was starting to grow tired and we had an hour drive home.

Outside one could see lots of planes, but the heat made us retreat back to the AC of our car.

Planes on the other side of the parking lot. There were actually lots of planes all around the hangars. If only I had had more time...

There were even some AFVs. 

That was a taste of the museum and I hope you enjoyed it.

I give Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum a 5 out of 5 score, as it is well worth a visit even if you’re not an aviation freak. Simply great and give it a whole day, because you will need it.
