Conan: Hadrathus

I was in a bit of a hurry to get Hadrathus finished for tonight game of Conan.
My least favourite mini from the game so far, as his face really isn’t more than an ill-define, half-melted blob. I tried to get some detailing with shadows and highlights, and I guess it’s good enough for the gaming table. He sure beats an unpainted figure, anyway.

Human Female Magic User from Otherworld

Another Otherworld miniature, this time DAH16 – Human Female Magic User, sculpted by Patrick Keith.
She is a bit flat and not very dynamic, but I still like this mini a lot.
There’s room for improvement on the flame, but with enough practice I’ll get there.

Lini, Iconic Gnome Druid from Reaper.

Another mini my daughter wanted painted. This is Lini, Iconic Gnome Druid, a Reaper Bones figure, sculpted by Derek Shubert.
Armed with a sickle and what looks like a small voodoo-doll. She also, for some reason, wears a quiver full of arrows. A bit strange, but it’s a nice mini and here she is.

Conan: Bêlit

The minis from the Conan game are slowly being painted, at least the single figures, as I really don’t like to paint multiples of the same mini.
Anyway, here we have Bêlit, a horror to paint with all that jewellery, straps and whatnot. I’m so glad she is finished J
She will probably see action in tonight’s game.

Ram Clan Shaman from Blood Rage

This guy comes from the Blood Rage: Mystics of Midgard pack.
I started him early last year, intending to use him in Frostgrave. But he wasn’t needed as my warband became all-female and this guy just stood there in the painting queue, essentially just needing a few details finished here and there.

Now that is rectified and with some hope we will see him in a game in the not too distant future. He’s got an identical brother that I really should paint also. Sometime soon, maybe.

Dr. Johan and Doom Ray from RAFM

These come from RAFM and were add-ons in one of their kickstarters. They’ve been half-finished for a long time, but I need them for a Pulp Alley adventure and here they are, painted and ready.

The doom ray is a bit clunky but turned our rather well. It will open a gate to a dimension beyond space and time, but more on that in a Pulp Alley AAR.

Conan: Shevatas

Shevatas flanked by two piles of skulls.
We had a game of Conan the other day and this time I was on the Conan-team and we just lost the game against the evil Overlord (Thomas, in this case. He got his revenge, as it was the same game we played last week and where he suffered a humiliating defeat. He had learned his lessons…). It was essentially depending on a unlucky roll in the last round. Very annoying, and I’m sure it was all because I played with an unpainted Shevatas-figure.
No more, I say. Here he is, painted and ready for another game and victory.

Conan – Giant Serpent

I had another game of Conan with Thomas yesterday. I was the hero and quickly crushed the opposing bad guys. It was a bit too easy, mainly because we both had forgotten far too much of the rules and made some serious mistakes. So, to offset that, we have decided to play Conan for a couple of weeks in a row to actually learn the rules and (hopefully) not forget them between plays.
The problem with too many good games is that you are tempted to switch between them, which isn’t all that great when your memory is what it is :-)
Anyway, I made a very quick paintjob on the giant snake that made an appearance in the scenario.
I had green-stuffed it during the weekend and block-painted (the back and the abdomen are actually painted with different nuances but it doesn't show in the pics) and washed it the evening before the game. Drybrushing after breakfast and varnished before I left for the club. Super-fast for me and the result is a very nice playing piece. It might even see action in other games.
The last thing you see...

Hotchkiss H38/39 from S-Models

Thomas and I are doing our best to fill the gaps in our French and German forces for France 1940 and Chain of Command.
We checked what we had and made a list of what was really needed and that list wasn’t too long - essentially a handful of figures with special weapons.
When I rummaged around in the box of 1/72 scale WWII-stuff I found some unbuilt tanks that just really wanted to be built. So, as a warm-up to the French soldiers, I built and painted these H38-tanks. Really nice kits, you get two in a box and can make a choice between long and short guns and also open or closed commanders hatch.
I chose to have two opened hatches as I have two commanders from the Matchbox Char B1:s that will fit well, but they are not painted yet.

So here you have four tanks to my ever expanding French 1940-army.

Conan – the man himself

A short update on the Conan game, this time the man himself: Conan!
Behind him you can see some boxes that were part of the kickstarter. They are very basic but useful in the game as it is so easy to miss the cardboard ones on the cardboard gaming table when you play.
I will hopefully see him in action in a game next week.

I’ve been working on my hobby corner, the harbour, the 3D-printer and some WWII-stuff, and that’s why there have been far too few updates the last week or so. That will be rectified.

Me and the daughter visited Tumbacon/Incognicon during the weekend and played quite a few games. The best one was Star Realms. I bought that one and we had several games yesterday. Very fun game!
