Brimstone – Swamp Slugs of Jargono

Another Enemy Pack for Shadows of Brimstone, this time the Swamp Slugs of Jargono. As I mention in the previous post on Hell Vermin, I’ve got these two packs that are not a part of the Kickstarter a while ago.
I was a bit sceptical about these first, as they needed quite a bit of green-stuff to be presentable, but when that was done… I really like them. The ick-factor is great with these carnivorous slugs.
In my mind they are ambush-predators, lying in wait, submerged and with only the eyestalks visible. When an unsuspecting prey comes close they rear up and attack. Also, as they have teeth and fangs I think that they are far more than slugs, so I gave them a pink-red fleshy underside and mouth.
I do believe they came out really well, and look forward to see them on the gaming table (possibly in tonight’s game)
Paints used:
Skin: Vallejo 887 Brown Violet, drybrushed 978 Dark Yellow and 954 Yellow Green. Washed with Army Painter Strong Tone Ink.
“Head”: 978 Dark Yellow, drybrushed 954 Yellow Green. Washed with Army Painter Strong Tone Ink.
Flesh: 944 Old Rose, wetbrushed 835 Salmon Rose, washed with Citadel Washes Baal Red
Fangs and teeth: 52 Bone White and AP Strong Tone.

Everything coated with Vallejo Gloss Varnish.

  4. Looking fab, agree with the others they look really icky. They can be a tough threat with the endurance rule ( and elite level buffs ) depending on your hero's capability's.I hope you meet them soon and then wish you hadn't 8P. Brian.

That was the last that bunch of heroes saw :-)

  5. They look disgusting - in the nicest possible way! I can see them being great for all kinds of horror, Pulp and SF scenarios.

    1. I like my monsters versatile, and these certainly are. I guess they will see action in other games too, Pulp Alley comes to mind.

  7. Having faced these beasties last night I can say that their ICK!-facktor is nothing compared to their OUCH!-factor. Those are very, very brutal beasties!
Still, it says a lot for Brimstone that we got kerb-stomped twice in one evening and still had great fun and want to to it again.

    1. It was great fun seeing your characters being smashed to pieces... after mine was beaten to a pulp...
Yes, there was some ultra-violence done there, mostly to the poor heroes.

    2. In our defence, we did dish out some fine tolchockings from time to time. Just not enough. Not enough by far.
